Byron wins NASCAR East race at Langley

HAMPTON, Va. (June 23, 2015) – William Byron led 174 of the 175 laps and won the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East on Visit Hampton Night at Langley Speedway. Dalton Sergeant, who eventually finished third, led lap 33, the only circuit of the chase around the 3/8-mile oval not led by the winner. Byron, Sargeant and the other drivers in the event competed on Goodyear Eagle tires manufactured specifically for racing in Akron, Ohio. The tires are of bias-ply construction and come from a line produced for use also by the K&N Pro Series West and NASCAR Canadian Tire Series. This line of racing slicks includes tires made for use on short and intermediate tracks, speedways up to a mile in length and road courses. Kyle Benjamin finished second, 1.217 seconds behind the winner. Sargeant, Gray Gaulding and Jay Beasley completed the top five finishers. Rico Abreu started on the pole after posting a lap averaging 89.323 mph. Byron covered the race distance with an average speed of 70.815 mph. There were only three caution periods for a total of 21 laps. Goodyear employs about 69,000 people at manufacturing plants and facilities in 22 nations. Based in Akron, Ohio, Goodyear is among the largest tiremakers in the world and is the worldwide leader in race tire innovation.
