39Rainbow recognizes 3rd weekend of National Jazz Appreciation Month with ongoing, live jazz performances

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (April 21, 2016) – 39Rainbow’s continuation of National Jazz Appreciation month kicks off this Saturday, April 23 with a live, onsite jazz concert from 4 – 6 p.m., featuring a performance from the Sons of Brasil with Stan Kessler.

Stan Kessler is the leader of the Sons of Brasil, and is an expert in jazz, R&B and funk music styles. Kessler was voted Best Horn Player by the Pitch Weekly’s Music Poll, Best Trumpeter by JAM Magazine’s Jazz Poll and Best Jazz Band/Leader with Sons of Brasil by the New Times Music Poll.

The performances will take place in front of 39Rainbow restaurants Subway and Topp’d Pizza + Salads. Additionally, 39Rainbow will donate a portion of proceeds from all five restaurants between April 1-30 to local jazz organization Kansas City Jazz ALIVE. The funds will be used to support its 2016 Charlie Parker Celebration, the nation’s largest celebration of the jazz legend.

39Rainbow is one of LANE4 Property Group’s newest mixed-use centers, located at the corner of 39th Street and Rainbow Boulevard. The center’s observance of National Jazz Appreciation Month concludes on International Jazz Day, Saturday, April 30, with its finale concert featuring the Elder Statesmen of Kansas City Jazz Quartet. The Elder Statesmen are a well-known, unique local music group connecting Kansas City Jazz, past and present. Members of this organization includes seasoned musicians who together create Kansas City Jazz, one of the greatest swing music styles.
