Fisher Phillips LLP and City of Las Vegas Offer Human Resources Academy to Local Businesses

  • Written by: Pitch Engine

LAS VEGAS – January 20, 2016 – Fisher & Phillips LLP and the City of Las Vegas are gearing up to help Las Vegas businesses in a different way.

On Jan. 27, Fisher & Phillips LLP, a labor and employment law firm, and the City of Las Vegas, are presenting a free seminar, “Lawfully Recruiting and Hiring the Right Employees.” Presented by Mark Ricciardi, managing partner of Fisher & Phillips LLP, and Chrystal Harry, human resources analyst for the City of Las Vegas, the program takes place from 9-11 a.m. inside the Las Vegas City Hall Achievement Room, 495 S. Main St. Registration opens at 8:30 a.m., and all attendees should check in at the City Hall reception desk. The seminar is free, but space is limited. Interested parties should pre-register online at http://www.laborlawyers.com/lawfully-recruiting-and-hiring-the-right-employees-3

This presentation is part of the Human Resources Academy, a series of free seminars aimed at helping local businesses deal with real-life workplace issues that have serious legal consequences.  The seminars will take place during the first half of 2016, and the next is scheduled for Feb. 27 and will focus on minimum wage and overtime.  Located in the Bank of America Plaza at 300 S. 4th St., Fisher & Phillips LLP is a prominent, national labor and employment law firm that focuses its practice on the representation of employers in all aspects of labor law, employment law, employee benefits and business immigration.

“Fisher and Phillips made the decision to locate the Nevada office in the heart of downtown Las Vegas,” said Mayor Carolyn G. Goodman. “We are very happy that as a way of celebrating that move the firm is already giving back to the community.”

All Human Resources Academy programs are approved for HRCI and SHRM recertification credit, and all attendees will receive proof of attendance certificates. January’s presentation will cover the basics of recruiting, screening and hiring the best qualified individual for the job; tips for interviewing applicants; and the EEOC’s regulations regarding conducting background checks from a practical and legal perspective.

“We are looking forward to explaining the nuances of hiring and recruitment to Las Vegas businesses,” said Mark Ricciardi, Fisher & Phillips Regional Managing Partner. “Our attorneys are great at diving into the issues that face employers and teaching how to avoid legal trouble in areas such as wages, performance management, harassment, sick leave and government audits.”

Nationwide, Fisher & Phillips LLP employs 330 attorneys across 31 offices. The attorneys in the Las Vegas office assist clients in the areas of employment discrimination and harassment, labor arbitration, collective bargaining, retaliation and wrongful termination claims, severance agreements, wage and hour law, union avoidance, union campaigns and elections, and OSHA inspections and litigation.
