Return to old-school connections in original 1970s two-story location with new 34-item casual menu; 16 cocktails; 19 IPA, craft and local beers; nine TVs and theater-style big screen for game viewing

Kansas City, Mo. (Jan. 11, 2016) – The Point Bar & Grill owners Jennifer Tucker and Melissa Redman, both local restaurant industry leaders, are reconnecting the roots of a 1970s Kansas City staple as a place to relax, enjoy a game, meet friends or walk over from the neighborhood. The Point Bar & Grill remains in its nearly 40-year-old original two-story West Plaza location, off of the Plaza and outside of Westport, but on the road between both.

A new menu is launching, featuring 34 items, including tavern-style brick oven pizzas cut in to squares for sharing, as well as starters, burgers, salads and “two-hand” sandwiches.

The bar is upping its game too, with 16 new cocktail creations by its bartender, Brandy Wilmes, in categories for “Vodka Drinkers,” “Rum,” “Gin and Tequila” and “Whiskey Lovers.” An “Infused Vodkas” section features the “Tickle Your Pickle” house specialty of house-made pickles infused with Kettle-One Vodka. The new beer menu satisfies any hops enthusiast with 19 bottled options ranging from IPAs to craft, local and traditional brews. Five options are on tap, including Stella Cidre, PBR and Boulevard Wheat.

Redman and Tucker were attracted to The Point’s history as a place to gather for a good time and took over ownership three years ago, drawing on their extensive background with the Kansas City restaurant industry. Jennifer previously served as the vice president of operations for KC Hopps. Melissa knows restaurants through her work as a district sales representative for Sysco.

The full menu is served during The Point’s new hours from 3 p.m.-midnight, Monday through Wednesday, and 11 a.m.-1:30 a.m. Thursday through Sunday. Happy hour includes five $5 appetizers, $2.50 drafts, $3.50 glasses of wine and all 16 specialty cocktails for $5 from 3-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 12-5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays. The Point recently established new closing times of midnight Mon. – Wed. and 1:30 a.m. Thurs. – Sun.
