ATLANTA, Dec. 2, 2015 -- A new report (http://cnb.cx/1TsyuFJ) from CNBC names Georgia-based global health nonprofit MAP International (www.map.org) number two among the “Top 10 Charities Changing the World in 2015.” Among the top 10 charities included on CNBC’s list, MAP has a score of 99.92, based on financial health, accountability and transparency of reporting (data provided by Charity Navigator).

MAP is a global health organization that partners with people living in conditions of poverty to save lives and build healthier families and communities. In 2015, the nonprofit offered assistance in more than 100 regions and countries including the earthquake in Nepal, Ebola in Liberia and Sierra Leone, Haiti, the Philippines, Afghanistan and Latin America.

The CNBC report notes “... these 10 charities manage to do exceptional work throughout the country and overseas, all while maintaining stellar financial management and transparency.” For MAP, that means less than one percent of its budget goes to administrative costs.

MAP Working to Secure Donations During Holiday Season

“The holiday season is the time when many people choose to make donations to the nonprofit of their choice,” said Steve Stirling, MAP president and CEO. “MAP has developed a series of campaigns this month to appeal to our donor base, giving us the ability to impact the most people possible in 2016.”

MAP’s multifaceted effort offers donors several opportunities to give, including a holiday gift catalog (www.map.org/givehope) with options ranging from honeybees ($25) and prenatal vitamins ($50) to stocking a mobile medical clinic ($1,250).

Other elements of the campaign include:

  • A Black Friday/Cyber Monday campaign

  • A Giving Tuesday (Dec. 1) campaign

  • A special Christmas video

  • A “Save-a-Life” campaign

  • A “Twelve Days of Christmas” campaign

  • A $100,000 Challenge Match

Since its founding, MAP has delivered more than five billion dollars in essential medicines and supplies to more than one billion people via 300 partners, hospitals and medical missions in 115 countries. MAP also works with impoverished communities to help educate and train leaders about health threats and prevent disease. The nonprofit responds to man-made and natural disasters and assists people living with neglected tropical diseases and those living in severe poverty. Each year, MAP provides more than $330 million in essential medicines to 10 million people in more than 100 countries.
