LAS VEGAS – Las Vegas Business Academy (LVBA) welcomes Mark LaVoie, vice president of food and beverage for Boyd Gaming, to the organization’s revered board of directors. LaVoie joins 32 of Las Vegas’ top industry leaders in business, hospitality and law in a dedicated mission to pass on professional expertise and knowledge to the nonprofit’s scholarship recipients while the students pursue a graduate degree at University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV).

Before joining the Boyd Gaming team in 2015, LaVoie served as the corporate vice president of food and beverage for Station Casinos Inc. from 2006 through 2013. During LaVoie’s time there, he opened Aliante Station Resort Casino while creating and implementing several internally branded restaurant concepts such as the Grand Café, Pasta Cucina and Cabo. In 2013, LaVoie joined the Warner Hospitality Inc. team as vice president of non-gaming operations for the next two years, opening Hard Rock Casino in Sioux City, Iowa and South Lake Tahoe, Nevada.

“Mark has decades of exceptional experience in the business and hospitality industries, making him a perfect example for our scholarship recipients to follow,” said Max Tappeiner, LVBA executive board president and vice president of hotel operations at Venetian / Palazzo. ”With his guidance, our students will learn the important lessons and skills necessary for success in their respective fields.”

Founded in 2011 by Rino Armeni, LVBA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing selected UNLV graduate students with financial aid and unparalleled mentoring resources to become future Las Vegas leaders. By offering Las Vegas’ most exceptional students up to $75,000 in scholarship funding to earn a Master of Business Administration (MHA), Master of Hospitality Administration (MHA) or Juris Doctorate (JD) from UNLV, the organization helps these students pursue their dreams without the financial burden that comes with higher education.
