Recognizing the different types of screen doors can help you find the one that’s best for your needs. Here are five types of screen doors to choose from.

1) Retractable Screens

Retractable screen door is composed of two parts: a door and track, which is connected to an aluminum bar. The bottom part is attached to a spring mechanism, keeping it in place when closed. When you open it, simply push on its handle and it will slide up along its track, allowing you to step out. These screens allow for maximum ventilation without letting bugs in. They’re perfect for homes with pets or small children who might be tempted to touch them or play with them. However, they do have their drawbacks—they can be difficult to install and repair if they break, as well as being expensive compared to other types of screens.

2) Sliding Screens

Sliding screens are an easy way to open up an outdoor living space. They’re easy to slide in and out, so you can open or close your outdoor space on a whim. You don’t need to hire any contractors for installation, either—just take down your existing door and slide a new one into place. Sliding screen doors can be made of wood or metal, so you have plenty of options if you’re looking for customization. Plus, they tend to be cheaper than other types of screen doors.

3) Patio Screens

Many owners install retractable screen doors on their patios so they can enjoy fresh air while keeping pests out. Many are made of aluminum, which makes them lightweight and easy to install. Some also feature bug-repelling mesh along with custom-fit hardware for convenient installation. And a few even come with automatic openers. Retractable screen doors let you maximize your living space, regardless of whether or not it has a traditional door. Most models are designed to fit most sliding patio doors. You can usually adjust them to fit within a range of standard widths, though some models require exact measurements. Most retractable screen doors roll up into track mounts located near each end of your patio door; these mountings prevent bugs from entering while still allowing air circulation through the bottom half of your door. A variety of colors and finishes is available, so you’ll be able to find one that blends in with existing decor if desired.

4) Woven Wood Slats

These screen doors are made by weaving thin strips of wood together. They are a great option for people who want privacy and a solid look but aren’t willing to shell out for a more expensive, durable type of door. The biggest downside is that they can be noisy when you try to open or close them and aren’t very sturdy—they’re often damaged by windy weather.

5) Sliding Glass Door Screen

Sliding glass doors are great for not just entering and exiting a home but also for letting in fresh air. Sliding glass doors with retractable screen panels allow you to enjoy fresh air without leaving your home open to bugs, insects, and other pests. If you don’t have a sliding glass door but still want access to fresh air through a traditional style of door, consider installing a retractable screen door instead.
