Ask Yourselves These Questions When Looking for Student Accommodation

  • Written by: John Ramirez

Whether it’s 2 bed student accommodation or a solo room, living in a student housing offers many benefits. For one, you have the opportunity to meet new friends, even from higher years. Going to school won’t be an issue as well since most shared student accommodation these days are located near schools. Finally, you’ll have the comfort and convenience of a home.

So, if you are in the lookout for one, it’s best to ask yourself these questions first:

How much is your budget?

Taking into account your budget for a shared living helps you narrow down your choices. This is also one of the best ways to find the cheapest student accommodation you can get if you stick to how much money you can spend on it.

When do you plan to transfer?

Are you taking this semester or the next? Do you have other plans before going back to school? Most student accommodation Mt Gravatt provides gets full quickly because of high demand, so you have to plan your move well. This way, you’ll have enough time packing and organising your stuff before you leave.

What features would you like in your accommodation?

Some students don’t care much about features because according to them, they won’t be spending all of their time in their rooms, anyway. This is a huge mistake, actually. You have to think about comfort and convenience when searching for a good place to stay.

Does your 3 bedroom student accommodation have enough storage area for all your stuff? Do you have internet in the hallway? How far is it from the school? These are just some questions that you need to answer to help you find what you deserve.

What does the contract say?

Read the contract and understand it well. Failure to follow what’s been agreed on can lead to penalties in the future. Also, take note of the rental dates, the non-negotiables of 1 or 2 bed student accommodation, and everything that’s on writing. It may seem like it favours the establishment only, but a contract actually also protects the tenants.

What are you allowed to bring?

Are you allowed additional appliances? Can you bring in your pets? Read the fine print and see if you are allowed to bring most things. Certain student accommodation doesn’t allow pets, but it is better if you know ahead. Ask the caretaker or find out from other students who are already living there at present.

2 bed student accommodation from establishments like Student One has everything you may need in a home, but they can be challenging to find if you don’t do your research ahead. Ask yourself these questions, and you’ll be guided on how to pick the most ideal one for you.

Also, it pays to gather information from friends or family members who are already in college and living in a student home. They can recommend tips and ideas to make your search an easier feat. Now, that’s something a new student should highly consider.
