ClickView is calling on students to put on their thinking caps for the annual Aussie Student Inventions That Changed the World competition. Entries open 22nd August (closing 17th September) and students can submit inventions of any type, size or functionality - from solving a problem, making life more interesting or just being incredibly cool.

The online video education company has partnered with a panel of experienced judges to give students of all ages the chance to pitch and showcase their inventions. Students could be in with the chance of winning impressive mentorship and cash prizes to make their idea a reality.  

Last year’s winners included Safe-N-Sea a wristband with GPS tracking, signal button and a whistle to prevent drowning injuries in beaches across Australia, DAB device a helmet that allows people with sight problems to experience a full heads up display, Epinject a sleek and easy to use needle-free option to help diminish risks associated with injecting adrenaline during anaphylactic shock and Bin It Right a convenient, simple and easy to use app which utilises photo recognition to identify and solve the everyday problem of waste disposal. 

The competition’s judges include inventor, serial entrepreneur, architect and futurist Sally Dominguez. With seven international product awards under her belt, Sally designed the Adventurous Thinking innovation strategy used by organisations including NASA. 

Mark Pesce, host of the award-winning podcast ‘The Next Billion Seconds’, he’s also a multiple award-winning columnist for ‘This Week in Startups Australia’ and co-Inventor of VRML (the standard for 3D on the Web and a core component of MPEG-4). And if that’s not enough, he’s authored six books and was a judge on ABC’s ‘The New Inventors’.

Rounding out the judging panel is Evan Clark, while studying Engineering at UNSW, Evan invented a way to deliver on-demand HD video to schools over IP networks using MPEG-4 compression standard which led to him co-founding ClickView - the Netflix of education in 2003.  Evan won the 2015 EY Entrepreneur of the Year award and he continues to enhance education by leveraging immersive rich-media technology in AR and AI-driven non-linear video playback.

ClickView has partnered with the producers of its video series Aussie Inventions That Changed The World to provide students with a better understanding of why we invent things, and hopefully kickstart their own inventive process. 

The competition will take place throughout Term 3 2021, with entries opening on the 22nd August and closing 17th September. The winners will be announced in Term 4.
