What does it cost to learn to kiteboard? Cost of kitesurfing instruction

Do you want to know how much it will cost you to start kiteboarding? You can learn how much it costs to learn to kitesurfing lessons, to buy your own gear, and to keep practicing on the kite beach without a teacher by reading this article. One or more people on the beach consider trying kitesurfing in the summer when a great breeze and a great number of colorful kites are flying close to the shore. But the first concerns that usually arise are: what is required, how much does kitesurfing cost, and can anyone even attempt it?

First of all, kitesurfing is a sport that, with a little practise, can be performed by any average person with some talent and athleticism. The cost of kitesurfing is influenced by a wide range of variables, which we will examine in more detail below. Not all sports, including kitesurfing, are made equal, so let's examine what is brand-new and what is available second-hand. You can also get advice on this page on the ideal time to purchase kitesurfing gear.

What is the cost of a kite course?

Do you want to know how much kiteboarding lessons cost? The cost of a kite course is around the same all over the world. While most kite instructors will try to persuade you to take a 4-day training, you should plan on taking a 3-day course at the very least as a novice. The purpose of a beginner kite course is to prepare the student so that, upon completion of the course, he/she has the knowledge and abilities to continue practicing alone on the water.

To categorize kite surfers' abilities and the manner in which kite schools provide their instruction, there are two main methods used throughout the world. With regard to certification, the majority of kite schools throughout the world either hold an IKO certification or a VDWS certification. Since both systems are relatively similar, it is irrelevant which system the school you select uses.

NOTE: There will always be questionable suppliers that lack one or both of the two credentials. Such courses should be avoided because there is no proof that they hire certified kite instructors. Additionally, you can demonstrate your proficiency by obtaining a kite license from IKO or VDWS and renting gear from kite stations all around the world.

We assume an average cost of € 400 for a kitesurfing course because there is no chance for savings on the kitesurfing course and kitesurfing lesson rates are fairly consistent across the board. Make sure the kite instructor knows your language, that the kite school is accredited, and, for added security, inquire about the age of the kites being used for instruction. The training materials shouldn't be more than three years old.

There are kitesurfing locations, like as in Northern Europe, where the price of instruction is higher. The price of taking a kitesurfing lesson is lower in other places, like as Asia or Southern Europe.

Whether you choose group or private kitesurfing instruction will affect how much the lessons cost. Group kite lessons are less expensive overall but less effective, so they may end up costing more in the long run. Because of this, we always advise choosing private instruction over group instruction.

The student's growth, on the other hand, is a factor to consider when estimating the expense of learning to kitesurf. Everybody develops to a specific level and has a different set of skills. As a result, it will take more time for someone who has never engaged in balancing sports. However, as we previously noted, the typical time to begin riding a board is nine hours of lessons (around 400 euros is a reasonable price).

Is it expensive to buy kitesurfing equipment?

Kitesurfing lesson completed! Now that you've ridden a kiteboard and obtained your kite license, you may put your skills to use. But you need kitesurfing gear to practise. The prices of the initial equipment are also based on the fact that you should initially just kitesurf in conditions that are mild. Never consider spending less than between 1600 and 2000 euros on new kitesurfing equipment. You may get fairly reliable used kite equipment for 1.000 euros if you wish to learn by yourself.

Does kitesurfing cost a lot or is it inexpensive?

In our opinion, there are more expensive pastimes than kiteboarding. However, compared to other sports, kitesurfing certainly requires a little larger initial expenditure. You need 2-4 kites to cover a wide variety of winds if you want to learn how to kitesurf. The cost can be absorbed over a few years after you have all the necessary kitesurfing gear. When you consider kitesurfing expenses over a number of years, the overall cost seems to be ordinary to low in comparison to other hobbies. The entire cost for the used material in our example is less than € 1,000 per year when broken down to the yearly level.

In summary

When determining how much it costs to learn to kitesurf, we must consider the amount of hours needed to become self-sufficient. Whether we're talking about private or group classes when we talk about the cost of kitesurfing lessons is another factor. Additionally, you will need to purchase your kitesurfing gear once you complete your kite training. So, when we figure out how much it would cost to start kiteboarding, whether we utilise new or used equipment is a crucial factor.

To learn kite, you will have to spend money, so we hope this has clarified that for you!
