Time for a change? Moving to a new city or neighbourhood is both exciting and scary. Plus, finding the perfect place for your new home isn’t always the easiest choice.

Here are 9 reasons you should consider moving to the Sutherland Shire.

1. Proximity to the City

Sutherland Shire is close enough to Sydney that the commute isn’t too hectic. Residents can enjoy a spacious suburban lifestyle even while working in the city.

2. Easy Commute to Sydney

Furthermore, commuting to the city is pretty chill. Frequent trains run back and forth so you don’t have to drive into the city and can use your commute time to read a book, get a head start on work, or simply relax and watch the scenery on the way home.

3. Plenty of Amenities

Being located outside the main city, there aren’t huge shopping malls, but sometimes that’s kind of nice. In lieu of the giant retail chains, you can find a plethora of small businesses, eateries, cafes, and other delightful shops that actually make shopping an enjoyable experience.

4. Lots of Green Space

Green spaces are good for you! Spending time in green spaces like parks and gardens helps you to feel less stressed and more relaxed. Royal National Park and part of Heathcote National Park can be found in the Sutherland Shire along with numerous small neighbourhood parks and playing fields.

5. The Beaches

Nearby Cronulla has some of the most gorgeous white sand beaches on the coast. Plus, spending a day by the sea comes with its own list of impressive health benefits.

6. Family Friendly Vibe

The party crowd might be disappointed in the nightlife in Sutherland Shire as there isn’t much to speak of. However, for those looking for a great place to raise a family or live out retirement, this is a prime spot.

7. Safe Atmosphere

Going along with the family-friendly vibe is that most of Sutherland Shire feels safe. Like every neighbourhood, there are a few areas that everyone knows to avoid at night. However, in general, the crime rate is low and people can feel comfortable to be out and about.

8. Community Events

There is a great sense of community in the Shire promoted by various community events. The Shire Farmer’s Market takes place every Saturday and people gather to pick out fresh produce and chat with their neighbours. Plus, there are musical events and festivals that happen in Peace Park and other locations throughout the year.

9. Affordable Living

If all this hasn’t got you thinking that it’s time to move to Sutherland Shire, this next point sure will! There are a variety of options for housing in the area that range from older homes on quiet streets to modern apartments. The best part is that there is an option for nearly every budget!

Life in Sutherland Shire

Still on the fence? Come visit the farmer’s market one Saturday and take the opportunity to meet a few of the locals. We think you’ll agree, we’ve got quite a lovely neighbourhood once you get to know us!
