As Christians, we’re commanded to love one another. You’re not a follower of Christ if you don’t exhibit love in your heart and in everything that you do. Every day, we should live an exemplary life. There will be challenges along the way but that is expected in life. In the Book of Matthew, the Bible says that not everyone that claims to be a Christian is saved. You might think you’re leading a Christ-like life but that is not what God thinks of you. It is important that you’re following the teachings of the Bible. Here are some of the qualities that you should possess as a Christian.

Discipline

God expects that discipline is exhibited by every Christian. There will be worldly desires competing for your attention and the only way of avoiding temptation is by remaining devoted to the word of God. You can check out Christians for Israel if you’d like to know more about maintaining discipline and living according to the will of God. To be disciplined doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re starving yourself of happiness. It is all about remaining committed to God's commandments. This should be reflected in other areas of your life as well.

Diligence

Just because you’re busy doesn’t mean that you’re diligent. It is about committing to faithfulness and the preservation of God's promises. This will be hard to know if you don’t read the bible. Diligence will result in the reproduction of vision which is transcendent of your immediate environment. This is something that you should be aiming for as a Christian. You can get someone to help you commit to the course as you’re likely to experience some challenges along the way.

Devotion

You must be devoted to the word of God if you’re a true Christian. It is impossible to go for a full week without reading the Bible if you call yourself a true Christian. There are those that will do it formally during church service and only pick the bible week after. The devotion should be first and foremost be to God. We must also be devoted to discipleship. It should be noted that devotion is a way of life and it should start when you accept Christ as your personal savior. Devotion isn’t something that will come overnight. You should be committed to the process if it is to bear any fruit.

Love

As we’ve already mentioned, we’ve been commanded to love one another as Christians. We’re only but humans and could be harboring hate and resentment. It will be hard to be a diligent follower of Christ when you don’t have love in your heart. It is important that you’re showing love in everything that you do. It should be reflected in your thoughts and actions. In addition to the desire to know the will of God, it will be pointless when you’re not loving.

Forgiving

The ultimate form of forgiveness happened on the cross. God sent His beloved son to die for our sins so that we can inherit His Kingdom. We must learn to forgive one another just as we’re forgiven by God. It might be hard to let go of pain and hurt but there will be no option but to forgive if you’re genuinely a true Christian.

Determination

There will be challenges along the way in the life of a Christian. Prophet Jeremiah asked God why bad people continue to prosper while the righteous ones continue to perish. There will be those moments that you’ll question your whole existence and why you continue to do the same thing. There will be days like that. You need to rise up and face life with optimism and determination because that is what God requires of you.

Creativity

You should be applying God’s wisdom when you’re facing the challenges. In the Bible, God says that Christians should not conform to this world. Instead, we should be transformed with the renewal of the mind. In other words, it is God trying to tell you that you should be thinking outside the box when solving problems.

Compassion

You should invest in healing and not hurting others. You should put yourself in other people’s shoes before you can cast a stone.

Conclusion

To be a good Christian, you must put God first in everything you do. The Bible has the teaching you’d need and it is crucial that you’re making it a habit of reading it on a daily basis. You should not be too hard on yourself when you make mistakes as that is what makes us human.
