Pioneer Museum leads walking tour of historic Lander cemetery July 25, 10 a.m.

The Pioneer Museum is leading a trek to the historic Lander cemetery. The trek is Saturday July 25, at 10 a.m.

On the walk people will learn about some of the Lander pioneers buried at the cemetery, including families like the Baldwins, Amorettis, Sheehans and many others.

People will meet at the Lander museum or at the Lander cemetery. The trek will last approximately 2 hours. It is recommended that people bring water, sunscreen and sturdy walking shoes.

It is recommended that people interested in the trek, or any other treks this summer, contact the museum to sign up in advance. The treks are free, but in some cases there is a limit on the number of people that can attend.

The treks are sponsored by the Wind River Visitor Council. All three county museums are doing treks to different historic sites around the county. Contact the museum for a complete list. The next trek by the Lander museum will be August 8, and will be a trip to the Oregon Trail site Burnt Ranch. Call the museum at 332-3373 for more information. www.fremontcountymuseums.com
