LOS ANGELES (June 15, 2015) – Actor SAMRAT CHAKRABARTI continues to shine in Hollywood, appearing in two new television shows this month, USA’s MR. ROBOT and HBO’s THE BRINK.

On June 24th, Chakrabarti steps in as ‘Ron’, a businessman who gets investigated and sets-off the drama on the premiere episode of USA Network’s, MR. ROBOT. The series follows a mysterious anarchist who recruits a young computer programmer (Rami Malek) who suffers from an anti-social disorder and connects to people by hacking them. The episode was directed by veteran Niels Arden Oplev (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) and produced by Universal Cable Productions.

Then on June 28th, Chakrabarti delivers big laughs as ‘Naseer’, a Pakistani interrogator who is a little too enthusiastic about his work, on HBO’s highly-anticipated comedy, THE BRINK. Tim Robbins and Jack Black headline the ensemble show which tracks the efforts of a bunch of bumbling government suits, soldiers and agents as they try to avert World War 3.

Chakrabarti is excited to help launch these two new television series, adding “It was incredibly fun to work with acting giants Jack Black and Tim Robbins on The Brink. There was great energy on set and a lot of laughter. Working with visionary director Niels Arden Oplev and versatile actor Rami Malek on the set of Mr. Robot was riveting to say the least because of the nature of the show. I'm honored to be a part of both of these shows because I think they are both pushing the envelope and raising the bar for television.”

Currently on the festival circuit, Chakrabarti stars opposite Jason Lee (My Name Is Earl) in the indie dramedy, GOOD OL’ BOY. The film follows an Indian family that moves to the U.S. in hopes of living the ‘American Dream’. Directed by Frank Lotito, the film received high-praise when it recently premiered at the Seattle Film Festival. Earlier this year, Chakrabarti appeared in Sonejuhi Sinha’s acclaimed short film, LOVE COMES LATER, which made its world premiere at the prestigious Semaine de la Critique during the 2015 Cannes Film Festival.

This talented Indian-American actor has built a solid resume and reputation around the globe. In the U.S., Chakrabarti has appeared on dozens of television shows including: 30 Rock (NBC), In Treatment (HBO), Damages (FX), Blue Bloods (CBS), The Leftovers (HBO), A Gifted Man (CBS), The Sopranos (HBO) and many others. His film work spans both Hollywood and independent projects, including Spike Lee's She Hate Me, Amyn Kaderali's Kissing Cousins, Bruce Leddy's The Wedding Weekend and Joseph Castelo's The War Within (which was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award). In 2011, critics named Chakrabarti as one of the ‘fresh faces’ to emerge from the Toronto International Film Festival for his breakout performance as Krishna in Claire McCarthy's, The Waiting City.

Chakrabarti is also an established actor on the international scene. His most notable work includes Deepa Mehta's film adaption of Salman Rushdie's Midnight's Children, Manish Acharya's Loins of Punjab Presents, Kabir Khan's New York, Joseph Matthew's Bombay Summer, Kamal Hasaan's Vishwaroopam and numerous regional films in Bengali.

Born in London, Chakrabarti spent much of his youth globe-trotting but eventually landed in Boston, MA. He holds a M.F.A. in Acting from the A.R.T/ Moscow Art Theatre School Program at Harvard University.

Samrat Chakrabarti is represented by Hartig Hilepo Agency and managed by Velocity Entertainment Partners.
