Traces by Stacy Garcia Captures Top Honors in the Carpet Category

LAS VEGAS, NV Durkan, the hospitality brand of Mohawk Group, was awarded the top product design award in the Carpeting/Carpet Systems/Rugs category for its Traces collection at the 2016 Hospitality and Design Expo and Conference. Held annually in Las Vegas, HD Expo is the premier trade show for the hospitality design industry. The IIDA/HD Annual Product Design Competition honors innovation, function and aesthetic advancements in the hospitality industry. This is the second consecutive year that Durkan captured top honors in this annual competition.

Designed by Stacy Garcia, Traces is inspired by infinite and intricate formations, and explores the deconstruction and transformation of the earth’s innate variations. Showcasing beautiful biomorphic and organic abstractions, each design explores the intersections of light and shadow through fractal patterning and delicate layers. Taking cues from sedimentary rock forms and arid lands, the palette consists of soft sumptuous shades of beige complemented with decadent browns and cool greys. With harmonious hues and ethereal arrangements, Traces unfolds subtle details of the ever evolving world. Traces is on display at HD Expo 2016 using Durkan's Definity™ and Synthesis™ manufacturing technologies. Styles from the collection are also available in Durkan's precision dye injected (PDI) and computer yarn placement (CYP) constructions.

Durkan revealed the company’s largest ever debut of new hospitality flooring solutions at HD Expo 2016. With 16 new innovative collections across a variety of flooring categories, including broadloom, carpet tile, hardwood, luxury vinyl tile and rugs, the company’s product offering provides solutions for every part of the hospitality environment including lobbies, corridors, meeting spaces, guest rooms, ballrooms and other specialty areas. As part of Durkan’s comprehensive flooring solutions offering, the company’s products are designed to coordinate seamlessly with Mohawk Group hard surfaces and Daltile’s ceramic offerings.
