Makes World Premiere at Tribeca Film Festival April 20th

and Hits U.S. Theaters Nationwide April 22nd

NEW YORK (April 6, 2016) – Actress CHRISTY MEYER heads to the desert alongside Academy Award-winning actor Tom Hanks (Forest Gump, Philadelphia) in director Tom Tykwer’s (Cloud Atlas, Run Lola Run) highly-anticipated new comedy-drama, A HOLOGRAM FOR THE KING. The film will make its World Premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival on April 20th and then open in U.S. theaters nationwide on April 22nd.

Based on the best-selling novel by Dave Eggers, A HOLOGRAM FOR THE KING follows American businessman Alan Clay on a company trip to Saudi Arabia to close what he hopes will be the deal of a lifetime. Baffled by local customs and stymied by an opaque bureaucracy, he eventually finds his footing with the help of a wise-cracking taxi driver (Alexander Black) and a beautiful Saudi doctor (Sarita Choudhury). Meyer steps in as Cayley, part of Clay’s trusted team, accompanying him to the desert where things don’t go exactly as planned.

Meyer was thrilled at the opportunity to work with such talented artists, adding “Tom Hanks is one of the most generous people that I’ve ever met, who can start a conversation with anyone, and mean it. We were shooting on location in the middle of a tiny desert town, which meant lots of off-camera time together and lots of dinners together. Despite remote surroundings, patchy wifi and desert shoots with sand and wind whipping your face, Tom surprised us with a ‘movie night’ once a week, which he put on in whatever space he could find. Tom is instantly likable, which is of course, a tribute to his success and the characters he portrays. And, Tom Tykwer as director, made it a dream team. He is talented, compassionate, fiercely intelligent and has a keen eye for the most sensitive details. I would happily get lost in a desert with them anytime."

Audiences will get the chance to catch Meyer on the big screen in two more films later this year. First, she’ll appear in Oscar-winning screenwriter/director Oliver Stone’s newest film SNOWDEN, profiling former CIA employee Edward Snowden and starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Shailene Woodley and Scott Eastwood. Then, she heads into the world of witches and wizards for the Harry Potter prequel, FANTASTIC BEASTS AND WHERE TO FIND THEM, directed by David Yates.

Meyer is a Texas girl who ended up in the hills of the English countryside. As an actress, she has worked extensively both in the United States and in the U.K., where she currently resides. Most notably, Meyer appeared in British filmmaker Stephen Frears sports bio-pic, The Program, examining Tour de France champion Lance Armstrong’s fall from grace. Meyer rose through international theater from off-Broadway New York to recent appearances in Yellow Face at the National Theatre and Park Theatre in London.

Christy Meyer is represented by The American Agency (London).
