8 April - Yann'Sine in concert
Alliance Française Dubai is proud to present young talented Moroccan singer Yann'Sine live on stage on April 8 at Hilton JBR.
Native of Tan-Tan Plage, a small village of Moroccan fishermen, Yann'Sine literally conquered the French public after his acclaimed performance at The Voice France in 2015. With his unique style, he makes his way on stages around the world. Encouraged by his family, Yann'Sine enrolled in Studio 2M (Moroccan song competition on 2M TV television station for 10 consecutive years. It is equivalent to French Star Academy) and finished runner-up. In January 2015, he entered The Voice in France and seduced singer Mika and the 3 other French judges.
Influenced by Nina Simone to Oum Kalthoum through Khaled and Russian Vianney, Yann'Sine sings an original blend of both Arabaic and French covers as well as some originals. He who defines himself as "a child of the world" sings in French, Arabic and English in a spicy and fragrant style.

12 and 26 April - Ciné Day Vintage et La nouveauté
Twice a month with Ciné Day, Alliance Française Dubai invite you to this new rendezvous to broaden your French cinematographic culture. The first movie of the month, 'Ciné Day Vintage', is a Classic, ranging from François Truffaut to Louis De Funes. Time to discover French vintage movies that can be surprisingly funny and insolent. The second film of the month, “La nouveauté” (New This Month) is a recent released movie. Get ready to laugh and/or cry with today’s famous French actors.

Ex-gangster Fernand (Lino Ventura) receives a call from a dying friend, a mob boss nicknamed "The Mexican". The doomed mobster talks Fernand into taking care of some criminal business and looking after his soon-to-be-married daughter. When a longtime mobster heavy, Volfoni takes exception to Fernand for being an outsider, they come after Fernand who is equal to the task. He defends himself in a series of comical killings from the onslaught of the mob.
Starring : Lino Ventura, Bernard Blier - FIlm's dialogues written by Michel Audiard, father of Jacques Audiard, 'Dheepan Film Director, Palme d'Or Cannes 2016.

18 March to April 30 - Claude Guenard 'Gold UP' - painting exhibition at Plantation, Sofitel JBR.
Alliance Française Dubai present French artist, Claude Guénard first exhibition at Plantation, Sofitel JBR 'Gold UP'. Claude Guenard generates amazing images through diversion and derision. His works are intervened drawings which he re-makes and re-orders by a reorientation work of the form and the meaning. He de-constructs the basic figures extracted from art and fashion magazines and he sketches over them questioning imagery. The final result is an overdrawn iconography with an incendiary visual force. The spectator is confronted with archetypes of our society revealed on these drawings. The dominating lines, the shapes and outlines achieved by the artist take over the printed backgrounds. The artist is not afraid to reveal the hidden motivations of our society, the secrets of our subconscious mind. Claude Guenard’s drawings are an epitome of personal mythology that encompasses tradition and modernism. He puts forward de-constructed fragments of desire rooted on an urban imagination. The works of Claude Guénard lead us into a world where the other is not reduced to a glossy image, where he is a real actor suddenly placed in the arena of a world now under the sign of contradiction.
Claude Guénard is a painter, engraver and sculptor. He graduated from the École des Beaux-Arts of Paris.
