Los Angeles, CA (February 18, 2016) –Cosentino Group, a manufacturer and distributor of high value surfaces for architecture and design, has announced a gift-in-kind partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Los Angeles (Habitat LA). As part of Cosentino’s ongoing commitment to social improvement, the company will donate its Silestone® Natural Quartz surfaces to be used in the kitchens of all newly constructed Habitat LA homes.

“We are thrilled about a partnership with such an esteemed national non-profit organization like Habitat for Humanity, particularly at a local level in Los Angeles,” says Mitch Sebolsky, Architect and Design Sales Manager, Cosentino North America. “Cosentino has a strong corporate commitment to sustainability but also to creating inspiration through design. It is our hope that this donation helps to inspire the lives of the homeowners they benefit.”

Habitat LA partners with hardworking, low-income homebuyers to build decent, affordable and sustainable homes. In order to make homeownership in greater Los Angeles attainable for low-income families and individuals, Habitat LA relies on volunteer labor and donated materials to keep construction costs down. Silestone quartz is known for its beauty and resiliency and in addition to meeting Habitat LA’s specific material needs, these high-quality countertops will be enjoyed by Habitat LA homeowners for years to come.

The mutually beneficial partnership was initiated by Habitat LA Board Member and Owner of Hollywood Sierra Kitchens, Gerry Bross, and also includes the donation of surfaces to be sold at Habitat LA’s ReStore. The ReStore accepts donated building materials, furniture and appliances that would otherwise end up in local landfills and resells these items to the general public at reduced prices. All proceeds are then reinvested into Habitat LA’s building and repair projects throughout greater Los Angeles.

“We feel extremely fortunate to have Cosentino as a partner in Building a Greater Los Angeles,” says Erin Rank, Habitat LA President and CEO. “Their generous donation of these beautiful countertops for all of our homes will bring us significant cost savings that we can invest into other facets of our work.”

Habitat LA also embraces green building practices that improve the quality of life for its partner homeowners. This includes the use of environmentally-friendly building materials such as Cosentino’s Silestone Natural Quartz product as well as building partnerships with companies that share in its commitment to affordable and sustainable housing solutions.
