February 10, 2016 (BOULDER, COLO) - Adventure Projects, an REI property based in Boulder, Colorado has announced the creation of a new editorial team and tapped Shannon Davis to lead the effort as Editorial and Partnerships Director.

“We’re thrilled to create editorial channels on our sites so we can increase our engagement with our users in an even more meaningful way,” said co-founder Michael Ahnemann. “We have growing communities of hikers, bikers, runners, and climbers using our sites and apps, who actively provide user generated content to our platforms. Adding Shannon, a passionate evangelist for each of those sports, will complement our existing community with exceptional curated content. Shannon has a strong track record of creating inspiring and useful media that stokes every type of adventurer to get out and participate with more skill and confidence.”

Davis comes to Adventure Projects with extensive editorial experience from Climbing, where he served as editor-in-chief and previously at Backpacker and Men's Health magazines and as a mountain guide with RMI in Ashford, Washington. At Climbing, he spearheaded relaunches of the website and magazine, which resulted in 100% growth in unique traffic and tenfold growth in total social media reach. Among his favorite outdoor accomplishments he lists: summiting the Matterhorn, sea kayaking Chile's Fjord de las Montanas, getting his four-year-old son up a 5.6 in Estes Park, and eating cheeseburgers in each of the 50 states during a year-long stint of living out of a 1991 Volkswagen Westfalia, during which he also created a GPS guide to the highest point in each state and listened to an unholy amount of Grateful Dead.

"I'm beyond psyched to join the team which has already created the best mobile tools for the sports I love most," says Davis, “Going forward my mission will be to compliment these best-in-class tools with aspirational content, to grow the sports by embracing all levels of athletes and giving them inspiring stories, photos, and video and heaps of practical knowledge about where to go now, what gear to use, and which training tactics produce the best results.”
