50 Reasons to Vacation in Wind River Country, Wyoming in 2016

  • Written by: Pitch Engine

Wind River Country, WY - The communities of Dubois, Lander, Riverton, Hudson, South Pass City, Shoshoni, and the Wind River Indian Reservation will host over 50 Top Events that can only happen in Wind River Country/Fremont County.

Catch gold fever while panning for gold at South Pass City just like a real prospector. Be mesmerized by Native American dancers sharing their cultural heritage at powwows and weekly cultural events. Satisfy that hankering for the old Western days—watch cowboys hang on for dear life at authentic weekly rodeos, whoop n’ holler at western parades or learn the secrets to throwing a tomahawk and shooting black powder rifles at historical re-enactments.

Or get away from it all and get your fill of pure mountain air on a paddle, hike, climb, or bike in mind-boggling natural vistas. If you have any energy left after a full day of play, dance the night away at a live concert or try some boot-scootin’ square dancing!  See the attached events flyer for even more ideas.

You might think you’ll mark a few things off that bucket list by visiting Wind River Country, but we think you’ll be tempted to add more items to it!  One thing is for sure: no matter what your age or passion, you’ll reconnect with it when you get here.

Follow us on social media for ideas and to see what other visitors enjoyed.  Follow in their footsteps or blaze your own new trail.  Either way, start planning your adventure now by signing up for our e-newsletter at windriver.org/?s=newsletter and check out our calendar at windriver.org/calendar to plan even more exciting things to do on your trip of a lifetime. All of Wyoming is area code 307.
