On Giving Tuesday, Dec. 1, Hattie Larlham supporters donated more than $63,000 to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Funds raised support programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities at Hattie Larlham.

Leading up to Giving Tuesday, the Click, Share, Give campaign raised awareness on social media. The campaign encouraged supporters to share on Facebook and retweet on Twitter. Hattie Larlham also launched a new text-to-give platform. It provided an easy way for donors to make a gift from their mobile device. Supporters helped spread the word and inspired other people to make a donation to Hattie Larlham on the national day of giving. A generous donor matched each Giving Tuesday donation dollar-for-dollar up to $15,000.

As part of Giving Tuesday, volunteers from businesses and organizations gave of themselves to create memories for Hattie Larlham residents and program participants. Volunteers from Walsh Jesuit Alumni Mothers Club, Ogletree Deakins, Athersys, Darko, Turner Construction, Demag/Kohl's, Brouse McDowell and US Bank participated in holiday decorating, delivering gifts and singing Christmas carols. Students from Walsh Jesuit High School hosted a memorable polar express themed event at the Hattie Larlham Center for Children with Disabilities.

“Giving Tuesday has been a great way to connect Hattie Larlham supporters, both old and new with the people we serve,” said Annual Fund Director Rosanne Drake. “It gets people in our community together to raise awareness about Hattie Larlham and give what they can. On Giving Tuesday our donors see how their gift, no matter the size, impacts the lives of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.”

For three years, the Giving Tuesday movement has strengthened and expanded Hattie Larlham’s online giving community. To build on this momentum, Hattie Larlham is encouraging online donations year-round at www.hattielarlham.org.
