Kitchen Cabinets: How to Choose The Perfect Design for Your Home

When people think of home renovations they typically consider one room in particular: the kitchen. Yes, this is the space that often requires a stunning makeover because there are so many wonderful upgrades that can take it from dysfunctionally shabby to practically elegant!

And, whilst there are so many things you can do to renovate your space (new appliances, cookware, layout etc.) one of the ultimate aesthetic and functional ways to start your makeover is through the cabinetry. The perfect design can give your kitchen that extra touch of style whilst making it that much more convenient for you to cook.

So, when it comes to choosing your new cabinets, consider these five imperative elements - they’ll help you choose a style that sings of functional elegance:

  1. Know yourself & what you want

Your kitchen - alongside other home elements - is a reflection of your personal style and aesthetic. Naturally, your cupboards fit into this notion, and should therefore represent what you love about home design.

Do you want something sleek and stylish, with minimal tones like whites and blacks? Or, do you want to go for more traditional, shaker style designs, complete with wood and fine detailing?

What about the accents: do you want to go for contemporary cabinet handles? Or, could timber handles give your home or more earthy, rustic look?

  1. Find the line between style & purpose

You obviously want a stunning aesthetic, but what good is having beautiful cupboards if you find them completely dysfunctional? Here, it’s important to consider your makeover layout and how much space you will need for all your cooking essentials.

Also, where do you want to place the cupboards? Would you prefer them at head height to easily grab down what you need? And do you have space for some below counter cabinetry, too?

  1. Always look for top quality cabinetry

Because nothing disappoints a homeowner more than realising they bought cheap cupboards that frayed after absolutely no time. Be sure to look out for manufacturers who have a reputation for creating high quality cupboards that their clients love. It only takes a quick Google search to get a pretty good idea of who can provide this or not!

  1. What colours will make your kitchen?

Colours and tones play a defining role in how your overall kitchen makeover turns out. You want to go for colours and tones that once again reflect your personal style whilst enhancing the space’s overall aesthetic. Therefore, it’s important to take some time to study your kitchen and think about what colours will perfectly blend in or accentuate the current space.

  1. Speak to the pros (they know what to do)

And, of course, if you’re en route to starting your renovation but are a bit busy with life’s daily stresses, why not consider talking to the experts? They have the skills, experience and style ideas to ensure that you receive the most stunning results for your kitchen cupboards. Whether it is assistance with choosing colours and tones, or deciding on layout and materials, they will ensure that you get to enjoy something stunning.

It’s all part of the makeover fun!

Don’t be stressed, overwhelmed or disheartened - choosing your cupboards is all part of the fun of renovating this imperative space. You will soon find a style that you are absolutely thrilled with and that you can’t wait to install in your home. What’s more, there are so many beautiful colours, tones, accents and textures to choose from that further enlivens this exciting process!
