Pound Paws Dog Day Is Taking Over Sydney Uni

Pound Paws in partnership with University of Sydney Union (USU) are bringing the dogs through the gates of Sydney University!

Sydney Uni Dog Day will provide students & Inner West locals with the opportunity to meet rescue dogs, learn from key speakers from the animal welfare industry, as well as sink beers & enjoy several paw-some pet related activities throughout the day.

When it comes to making a positive impact, empowering the younger generation with the knowledge to sculpt the future is imperative. Investing awareness and resources into todays largest-ever generation of young students will ensure they can optimally contribute and speak out for our furry friends.

With roughly 200,000 happy and healthy pets getting euthanized each year, Pound Paws needs as much support as possible to end this cycle, and the first step towards this is education.

In a Pound Paws Dog Day first, the Sydney Uni event will host a dedicated workshop session room where key speakers in the Animal Welfare industry, such as RSPCA NSW, Deaf Dogs Rescue Australia and University Veterinary Teaching Hospital Sydney, will be educating the students and Inner West community on topics ranging; responsible pet ownership, pet health as well as the importance of pet adoption.

Pound Paws Founder, Brittany Bloomer is passionate about raising awareness a about pet adoption, “I started Pound Paws charity after an eye-opening discussion with Tim Vasudeva, Corporate Affairs Director, Animals Australia. He took the time to educate me about the reality of backyard breeding, irresponsible pet ownership and how it’s contributing to the mass amount of pets ending up on death row per year. My goal with this particular event it to influence the students, in the same way I was influenced to make a change”.

Pound Paws hosts dog adoption events every month in different areas across Australia. Their dog adoption events are held to help raise awareness about pet adoption, as well as assist rescue centres and pounds with the overall adoption process.

The Sydney Uni Dog Day will be taking place at Courtyard Restaurant & Bar, a trendy spot inside campus in the Holme Building. The doors will be open to all dog lovers.

Guests can expect paw-some activities ranging from; Rescue Dog Adoption Parade, Pet Aura Readings to even Puppy High Tea Sessions.
