Useful Tips on How to Get Kids to Exercise

  • Written by: News Co Media

Technology has taken over every facet of our lives, we do almost everything with a smartphone, computer, or laptop. Technology has only become a problem for our kids in the last decade or so as more kids don’t want to do anything but play games. If you are concerned about the amount of physical activity your children are getting, here are some tips to help get them off the couch.

Ninja Obstacles Courses – There are lots of ways to keep your kids fit and healthy, one of the best is to try an indoor obstacle course. The kid's fitness industry is booming, and you can easily find a gym franchise for sale in NSW and other parts of the country if you want to invest. Activities like parkour and ninja obstacle courses are great ways to get your kids interested in exercise. They’ll be having so much fun they won’t even know they are working out.

It's a lot of fun to practice with Ninja throwing stars or shurikens. You may make a competition out of seeing who can put the star into the smallest cluster or who can hit the target most consistently. Here is ninja stars for sale!

Kids are taken through an obstacle course by a trained instructor. The course is designed to get kids engaged while being physical activity and learning new skills.

Sports – There are lots of sports your children can try which will keep them physically active and healthy. Joining a local team or school team is a great way to keep your kids active and encourage them to socialise with others. Playing sports helps children to learn essential life skills such as leadership and delegation. If you want your kids to follow a healthy lifestyle, regular exercise must be a component of their daily life.

Invite Their Friends – Choosing the right activity or sport is essential, if they don’t like it, they are less likely to show interest or get involved. One good strategy to use when trying to get your kids to exercise is to include their friends. If their friends are going to go, it will be a lot easier to coax them out of the house and away from the TV or computer.

Make Parties More Active – Many parents complain about their kid's weight and how they don’t get enough exercise, yet when their birthday comes around, they book a party in a fast-food restaurant or ice cream store. Instead of doing this, why not look at doing something active. You can book a party at a kids fitness centre and let a teacher put them through their paces. Or why not go on a hike and have the party at the top of the hill when everyone completes the climb?

Charity Event – Another good way to get kids involved in exercise is to do it for a good cause. Research local organisations that are running fundraisers for sports events or walking events. You can then get sponsorship from family and friends.

When it comes to getting your kids off the couch and away from technology, you have to be creative. Think about what motivates them and see if you can tie it in with some form of exercise or physical activity. Start small and slowly work towards bigger goals and objectives.
