Ways to sell your used car in 2022

If you’re thinking of selling your used car and not sure how to about it, you’re not the only one. There are so many ways to sell a used car these days and the best way to sell your car is going to depend on your own individual circumstances. Whatever reason you're looking to sell, whether it's to upgrade to a new car or simply to get rid of that old clunker, there are a few options. The most common one is to sell it privately.

1.       Selling your car Privately

For those who own a used vehicle that is still in good condition and are looking to upgrade, selling your vehicle privately is probably the best way to go if you have some spare time on your hands. It’s a good way to ensure you get the best price for your car.

Before you advertise your used car, it would be a good idea to get it deep cleaned and serviced. If it has any minor dents and scratches, it would also be a good idea to do the necessary cosmetic repairs to have your vehicle looking as good as new. This will help boost the price of the vehicle as well as help it sell faster.

Advertising

There are two ways you can go about advertising your vehicle. What way to go will depend on how quickly you want to sell your used vehicle. If you are looking to sell your vehicle quickly, then you would need to advertise on the web to maximise your reach. It would be a good idea to post as many pictures as possible of your vehicle, from different points and angles. This will likely increase interest in the car and will attract serious buyers.

Another way to advertise your vehicle is word of mouth. This method might suit those who are in no hurry to sell their car. Spreading the word that you are interested in selling your car is not likely going to get that much coverage. If you are looking to increase coverage, then it might help to put up a ‘For Sale’ on the vehicle, with a number to call for interested parties.  That will give you free mobile advertising every time you go out.

2.       Selling at an Auction

For those who don’t have the time to sell a vehicle themselves and want to hand over the task to someone else, then selling your used car at the auctions is probably the place to go. Auctions are held every week and many serious buyers attend auctions. You can set a reserve price for your vehicle and your car cannot be sold until it reaches that price (unless you otherwise consent to the sale). This method of selling your car is convenient for those who are unable (for whatever reason) to sell their used vehicle themselves.

3.       Selling to a Dealer

If you need money fast and don’t have the time to sell your vehicle yourself, then selling it to a used car dealership is probably your best bet. You can sell your used car as it is to the dealer and or fix any minor cosmetic damage it may have before you take it in. Either way, it would be a good idea to do some research on how much your vehicle is worth (as it is) in the market, before you go in. knowing the value of your car will give you some leverage to argue in case the dealer initial offer is too low (which it usually is). Be prepared to bargain with the dealer until you are satisfied with the offer.

4.       Selling to the Scrap Yard

If your vehicle is in a bad way, and you no longer feel it's safe to drive or you are unable to drive it, selling it online or at the auctions might prove to be challenging. You might consider selling it to the scrap yard instead. Origin Cash for cars will purchase any second-hand vehicle no matter how old or damaged it is.

When you call Origin Cash for Cars, you will get a free over the phone quote for your vehicle. The quote will be based on the information you give us about the condition and age of your car. If you are happy with the quote, you can schedule a date and time where we can come to you and remove your vehicle for FREE. If you want to get rid of your car quickly, then you can arrange for same day removal.

Selling your used vehicle for scrap is fast, easy, and effective. It’s the best way to get rid of a damaged or old vehicle you no longer have use for.
